Douglas was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey which is just across the bridge from NYC.  He grew up in a rough neighborhood and came from a family of limited means, but his parents instilled upon him the core values of honesty, morality and integrity. He once said his father was constantly telling him, “Kid, I don’t have anything to give you, so if you want anything in this world you’re gonna have to work for it.”

Stability has great value in Douglas’ life. He’s been with the same broker Coldwell Banker for 19 years and his wife Dawn for 19 years. He's also been blessed with two wonderful boys named Dougie & James ages 13 & 17. For exercise he’s an avid runner and enjoys all outdoor sports such as snow skiing, hiking and boating on Lake Mead.

Douglas also believes in giving back to the community by volunteering his time for the good of the elderly. Douglas was appointed by the Governor of Nevada to the Board of Examiners for Long Term Care Administers (BELTCA.) Douglas is currently serving and has been on the State Board for 11 years. His function is to handle licensing and disciplinary issues of administrators of all nursing homes & assisted living facilities in the State of Nevada. He firmly believes our elders led the way and sacrificed their lives so that we may enjoy the freedom and quality of life we have today. They should be honored with quality care and respect while preserving their dignity.
